The Lava Glass Sculpture Garden

We are thrilled to announce that our sculpture garden has been awarded a 5-star rating by the New Zealand Gardens Trust, meaning it is a “Garden of National Significance” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Jan Woodhouse, Lead Assessor, says: ‘It is a privilege and pleasure to visit gardens that are a result of hours of work by passionate, creative, and knowledgeable people. We leave inspired and humbled by our experiences.’

A kaleidoscope of colours greets visitors to our glass sculpture garden. Opened in early-2014, the garden features more than 600 glass sculptures handcrafted by our master glass artist Lynden Over and his glassblowing team.

An Arty Oasis

Every sculpture was created in our studio, and some of the larger pieces like the rainbow, which is 4m long by 2.5m high, and the Lava Tree, which is 2.7m tall, took months to complete. The garden also includes a gentle waterfall cascading over layers of coloured shell-like platters, glass flowers and some of NZ's largest pieces of handblown glass. One of our visitiors' favourites are the large tulips. They are huge, vibrant and have a immense visual impact. All sculptures sit amongst native plantings, mature trees and natural landscaping.

Like a traditional garden, our sculpture garden is always changing. Every year we add a new sculpture.
